Michael Casher is a science fiction author from Snow Shoe, Pennsylvania, a small Appalachian community in the United States. He started writing science fiction novels in 2002 as a full-time independent author after half a lifetime of working for others at various positions in labor, banking and insurance. Michael often refers to that part of his life as his "data-gathering" period. The author shares a home with his elderly mother and an old tomcat named "Lucky".
