Ivan Hudec
Biography
Slovak politician, writer, playwright and author of literature for children and teens.
He studied medicine (Univerzita Komenského, Bratislava), and while in school became co-founder of a small student theatre 'Divadlo u Rolanda' where he worked as a writer, a director, an actor and an organizer. After studies he worked as a doctor in the town of Žilina, later in Bratislava and then in Čadec, then returned to Bratislava once again to work as a Deputy Director for the local State Sanatorium. After year 1989 he began his venture into politics, eventualy ending up as a Minister of Culture in years of 1994 - 1998.
His main speciality were novels and short stories, his main topics being marrital problems and history of Slovakia- or he regularly returned to medical themes, from which he had many of his own experiences. Additionally he wrote comedies and mysteries, on top of theatre plays.
