Biography

Indira Acharya Mishra is a Nepali academic, scholar, and researcher with over twenty-five years of experience in teaching, research, and academic leadership. She holds a PhD in English Literature from Tribhuvan University, Nepal. Her academic work is grounded in gender studies, feminist criticism, ecofeminism, minority and ethnicity studies, identity politics, and narrative theory. She has played a significant role in higher education through teaching undergraduate and graduate courses, mentoring research scholars, and contributing to curriculum development and research management at Tribhuvan University.

An accomplished researcher and academic writer, Dr. Mishra is the author of two scholarly books: 'Feminist Consciousness in the Modern Nepali Novels' and 'Critics on Parijat’s Novels' (both published in 2025)—and has produced more than fifty peer-reviewed journal articles in national and international publications. She has supervised over thirty M.A. theses and presented her research at numerous national and international conferences and seminars. Beyond teaching and research, she has provided academic leadership as Chairperson of the Research Management Cell and former Head of the Department of English at Mahendra Multiple Campus, as well as through her active involvement in professional organizations such as NELTA and other academic research centers.

Dr. Indira Acharya Mishra was born on 25 September 1970 A.D. in Mattim Birta Village Panchayat of Khotang District, Nepal. She spent her formative years in Bayarban and Biratnagar in Morang District. In 1993, she married Pashupati Mishra of Jhapa District. She is presently based in Alaka Tole, Ward No. 11, Biratnagar Metropolitan City, and works as an Associate Professor of English at Biratnagar Degree Campus, Tribhuvan University, Biratnagar, Nepal.
