John J. DiIulio, Jr

John J. DiIulio, Jr. was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He received a B.A. in Economics and an M.A. in Political Science from Pennsylvania State University, and an M.A. and a Ph.D. in Political Science from Harvard University. He taught at Harvard and then became Professor of Politics and Public Affairs at Princeton University, where he directed Princeton's first domestic policy research center within Princeton’s Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs.

In 2001, he was appointed the first director of the White House Office of Faith-Based and Community Initiatives under President George W. Bush. Later that year, he became the first senior Bush advisor to resign.

Over the course of his career, DiIulio has authored more than a dozen books and hundreds of scholarly and popular articles on American politics, health care policy, crime policy, religious nonprofits, and other topics. With James Q. Wilson, he co-authored the widely used textbook *American Government*, which was found to contain factual inaccuracies and a conservative bias on issues such as global warming, school prayer, and gay rights.

He is currently the Frederic Fox Leadership Professor of Politics, Religion, and Civil Society and Professor of Political Science at the University of Pennsylvania.
