"ETHRYG, ETHERIDGE, or, as he writes himself in Latin, EDRYCUS (George) was king’s professor of the Grecian tongue at Oxford, about 1533; but having been active against the protestants in queen Mary’s reign, was forced to leave it on the accession of Elizabeth, He practised physic afterward at Oxford, and took care of the sons of catholic gentlemen. He was a sincere man, a great mathematician, eminent for Greek and Hebrew learning, a physican, well skilled in music, and a poet. He left works both printed and MSS."
