Biography

William A. Withington, born in Honolulu, Hawaii, was a graduate of Harvard University, and obtained his Ph.D. from Northwestern University in 1955. Withington was a member of the Geography faculty of the University of Kentucky (1955-1989) whose research and teaching interests centered on urban and regional development in Southeast Asia, especially Indonesia. In 1964, he co-authored *Asia, with focus on Southeast Asia* with Margaret Fisher Hertel.
