R. J. Barker

Robert J. Barker (1949-2013) was a physicist specializing in high power microwave (HPM) research. He earned his Ph.D. in Applied Physics from Stanford University and held positions at the Naval Research Laboratory, Mission Research Corporation, and the Air Force Office of Scientific Research. Barker was instrumental in developing and applying electromagnetic particle-in-cell software and was a key figure in funding HPM basic research. He authored and edited several books on the subject and was recognized as an IEEE Fellow and an Air Force Research Laboratory Fellow.
