Robert Weir

Robert Weir was born in Calgary and grew up there until he was 25, before moving to B.C. His father was an English teacher and his mother a homemaker. He also has family in the United States. He attended the University of Calgary and completed a Bachelor of Arts in Pyschology. He began writing poems at age 18, and came out with his first book, Under Blackbird Peppered Clouds, 18 years later. Weir's poems have been published in The Antigonish Review, Event, Jones Av., Write Away and Poet's Canvas. "I tried to build a birdhouse once but the birds were frightened of it and flew away," says Weir. "Then an old woman passing by came up and began swatting at it with her walking stick.
