Biography

Retired diplomat: Served for approximately 40 years (1974-2014) in the Royal Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs in various capacities, incl. Consul General in Murmansk, Russia (1994-97), and Permanent Representative (Ambassador) to the International Whaling Commission (1999-2003). Seconded to the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) 1998-2000 as Ambassador/Head of the OSCE Assistance Group to Chechnya. Assignments as Deputy Director General and Specialist Director on Marine Resources.
Author of a number of books, numerous official reports and several hundreds articles in Norwegian and foreign (international) professional journals and papers.
