José María Latorre Fortuño (Zaragoza, 19 September 1945 - 14 November 2014)1 was a screenwriter for film and television, film critic and writer of Spanish terror and suspense. With more than thirty titles published, his writing is characterized by his sober style and a careful and concise language, fundamental for creating oppressive environments, in which no detail is left over. Among his macabre stories are *La noche de Cagliostro* (an imaginary adventure by the famous Venetian doctor and occultist Alessandro di Cagliostro), *Silencio*, *El lecho vacío* and *Recuerda mis sueños*. His story *Instantáneas* has been translated into Polish and Italian; these stories are brought together in the volume *La noche de Cagliostro y otros relatos de terror*, published by Valdemar, a prestigious publisher of the genre.
