Richard F. Skedd was born in Edinburgh, Scotland, on March 25, 1928. He received a diploma in electrical engineering from Heriot-Watt University, Edinburgh, Scotland, in 1952. Since he joined the Standard Telecommunication Laboratories I,t,d., Harlow, England, in 1955, he has been engaged in microwave research. For several years he was concerned with problems connected with long-distance waveguide communications and has published papers
