Biography
SM NONA was born and raised on a farm on the plains of eastern New Mexico, the middle child in a family of five. The great panorama of the open plains, the drought years, and epochal dust storms boiling out of the horizon in the 1950's, the family of rural community, the stories absorbed of Depression experiences of the parent generation, the childhood guided by noble and loving parents in the imposed grace of fundamentalist faith, were early influences. A personal emancipation began with the discovery in the Public Library at age 13 of books of Emerson and Ingersoll and Paine, and these led to an intellectual adventure still continuing, and expressed in Nona's latest book, inspired by the death of his father, "THE BRIGHTNESS: Secrets of the Third Angel, and the Bridge at Kino Springs", 2010, a novel about the conquest of death as our Destiny.
