Biography
Duane F. Roycraft was active in industrial building design since 1937, where he commenced his architectural work. At that time he began recording and saving those architectural details which proved most useful to him in his work.
Over the course of the years, his collection of details grew quite large, and became much in demand by fellow architects and designers. Roycraft finally published his collection of details privately in 1948 through several books with the latest being the Second Edition of Industrial Building Details, which was an expanded and improved edition of his earlier works.
Born in Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin, educated at Virginia Polytechnic Institute, the University of Virginia, and the Meinzinger Art School, the author practiced architecture in Michigan and resided in the Detroit area from 1946 before retiring to part time architecture and farmng in 1974.
