Biography
Dr. R.C. Dubey is Professor & Former Head of the Department of Botany & Microbiology, Gurukul Kangri University (Haridwar). He earned his M.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees from the Banaras Hindu University (Varanasi) in the year 1981 and 1986, respectively. He served the Kumaun University (Nainital) as Lecturer from 1987 to 1996; thereafter, he joined Gurukul Kangri University as Reader in 1996 and as Professor in 2004. He has been the Head of the Department for three years (July 2007 to June 2010). He has bee the Coordinator of IQAC of the University from Oct 2010 to 15th May, 2012, .
His field of interest is rhizosphere microbiology and phytopathology having expertise in biocontrol of soil-borne plant pathogens, mycorrhizae, mycorrhization helping bacteria (MHBs)), rhizosphere microbiology, microbial biotechnology and botanical pesticides. He has published more than 101 research and review papers in the national and international journals of repute. Some of the research papers have been published in Impact Factor journals.
He has produced 20 Ph.Ds. and is supervising 6 research students on varied aspects of microbiology. He has handled Research Projects sponsored by the UGC and CSIR.
Prof. Dubey has been a member of Research Degree Committees (RDCs) and Board of Studies (BOS) of several Universities. He has attended dozens of National and International Seminars/ Symposia and presented research papers and delivered lectures.
Prof. Dubey has authored four books viz.
1. Advanced Biotechnology (2014)
2. A Textbook of Microbiology (3rd ed. 2010)
3. A Textbook of Biotechnology (4th ed. 2014) and
4. Practical Microbiology (2nd ed. 2012). He is also a co-editor of six books viz.,
1. Himalayan Microbial Diversity (1997) (Vol I and Vol II),
2. Microbes: Agriculture, Industry and Environment (2001),
3. Innovative Approaches in Microbiology (2002),
4. Biotechnological Applications of Microorganisms- a techno-commercial approach (2006),
5. Biotechnological Applications of Microorganisms in Agriculture (2007),
6. Industrial Exploitation of Microorganisms (2010), and
7. Bioremediation of pollutatnts (2012).
He has been the Organising Secretary of the National Seminar on ‘Bioinoculants for Holistic Sustainable Rural Development’ jointly organize by the Department of Botany & Microbiology, Gurukul Kangri University and DDU State Institute for Rural Development (U.P. Govt.) (1998). He has been the member of the Academic and Evaluation Committee, State Biotechnology Programme, Govt of Uttarakhand, and Convenor- Biotechnology Fundamental Glossary- CSTT, HRD Ministry, Gov. of India. He has been Joint-Coordinator of Summer School on Recent Trends in Biotechnology (Sept, 16-30, 2008) and Workshop on Microbial Fermentation and Microbial Inoculant Preparation for organic Farming (Feb., 6-10, 2009), and successfully organized Microbiology Alumni Meet 2009 on February. Prof. Dubey has been Convener (three times) of 4-days workshop for preparation of Biotechnology Glossary of CSTT- HRD Ministry, Govt. of India.
Prof. Dubey is the life member and fellow of the Indian Botanical Society, Indian Phytopathological Society and the International Society for Conservation of Natural Resources. He was Associate Editor of the Journal of Indian Botanical Society (2000-2004) and a member in the Editorial Board of the Journal of Environmental Biology and Conservation (2004-2008).
Prof. Dubey has been nominated as the Councilor of the Indian Botanical Society for three years (2011-2014).][1]
Now he is the Dean, Faculty of Medical Sciences and Health Since February 2014.
