Biography
Gordon Boyce Thompson was the only son of Boyce Thompson and Ida McCausland of Toronto, Ontario, Canada. He had a sister named Mildred as well as a brother named Allan who died in 1903.
Boyce Thompson was a prominent Toronto businessman, and a long time member of the Queen's Own Rifles, a local militia unit. Ida McCausland was the daughter of Joseph McCausland, a native of Armagh Ireland, who had founded a prominent stained glass window company in Toronto.
Gordon Boyce Thompson attended the University of Toronto and completed his undergraduate degree by 1907. He died on July 1st, 1908 shortly after completing his M.A. thesis in Berlin Germany, and in 1909 his thesis was published in a limited edition.
