A bachelor’s degree in vocal music education from the University of Cincinnati’s College Conservatory of Music; my RN diploma from St Vincent Charity Hospital in Cleveland, Ohio; several trips to West Africa, one to Alaska on a cruise ship to provide dialysis nursing services to cruising patients, and other trips around the US as well as Cuba to present at a multicultural conference... Well, let's just say, arts, culture and wellness are me, all the time! In ‘Hood Medical: This Is Why I Sing, which is my first book, the true stories are fascinating, funny and sometimes tragic aspects of nursing as well as glimpses into realities of life as a working wife and mother. Despite implementing nursing as Plan B, I continue to sing classical, jazz, reggae/world, soul, blues, gospel, neo-soul and pop; lead or background; with other bands and with my own, locally and nationally.
