Biography

Jana loves the children's book art form. Very early on she fell in love with the work of Golden Book artists, such as Tibor Gergely, Alice and Martin Provensen, JP Miller and Mary Blair. Her early adulthood was spent traveling and working as a nanny, which reintroduced her to the art and ignited her desire to pursue illustration as a career. After getting her start in independent comix in the 90’s, she worked as a Boston based illustrator. Her artwork appeared in a number of publications, including The Boston Globe, The Boston Phoenix and The Boston Herald. Jana is ecstatic that she now spends the majority of her time creating illustrations for children’s books and magazines. She’s living in the resuscitated old mill town of North Adams, in the Berkshire mountains of Massachusetts with her husband/creative partner, John Seven and their homeschooled sons, Harry and Hugo. When she’s not working, she spends her time trying to master the accordion, and kayaking.
